Painted Hills: Where Nature is Art
I’ve lived in Oregon since 1970 and had never seen this part of the state. While on an extended vacation with my sweetie where we set up our teardrop trailer in Sisters, Oregon as home base for our planned day trips, we made the drive to the Painted Hills National Monument just outside of the small community of Mitchell, Oregon.
As we rounded the bend on the road leading to the area, my jaw literally dropped at what appeared on the hill sides. I had never seen anything so awe inspiring as what laid before me in the distance.
It literally looked as though the hill sides had been brushed with nuanced colors of paint that defied explanation. I did my best in attempting to capture what I saw with my cameras, but I will say that my images pale in comparison to seeing this area in person.
